About us.
Relax aboard our vintage boat, Storholmen and enjoy Dalsland’s canal with the fantastic surrounding countryside, as well as our traditional menu of homemade food.
The Holmedahl family wishes you a warm welcome aboard Storholmen.
Sture, who is the captain aboard Storholmen, started his career working aboard his father’s cargoboat as a boy. Back then the canal was mainly used commercially, transporting cement, timber and other goods. Sture is a handyman, and takes special care of the boat and her maintenance. He makes sure she is looking her best for the beginning of each season.
Annika, who is in charge of the restaurant, worked in restaurants when she was younger, and studied to become a dietician in 1980. For the past 25 years she has worked as a food manager in both the public and private sector.
Our sons, Jacob and Anton, are still studying, but help out on the boat during the summer season.
We, Sture and Annika, have both worked in the service industry, and wanted to continue to do with our own business. When Storholmen was put up for sale, we, together with our sons, Jacob and Anon, made the decision of a lifetime – to buy her and continue the concepts that the previous owners had developed. Keeping the boat’s old traditions alive is important to us, as Storholmen has been sailing the canal for over 70 years.
Other that Storholmen, the family’s main interests are spending time in the forest and countryside, and when we have time, a round of golf. When the boat is moored for the winter, we enjoy ice-skating together.
